Town Council in 2008 approved an ordinance requiring door-to-door solicitors to obtain a certificate of registration from the Town and comply with guidelines set forth in the ordinance.
The ordinance provides:
- The Town Clerk will implement a no knock list
- Allow for no solicitation signs
- Enforce time restrictions between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
- Door-to-door solicitors must register with the Town Clerk and comply with restrictions
The ordinance does not require canvassers and noncommercial solicitors (i.e. Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Youth Explorers, etc.) to register, but they still must comply with restrictions. The ordinance also contains methods for registration, revocation of registration and administrative appeal in order to provide for due process and a provision for tracking violations and possible penalties for violations.
Castle Rock Police Department will field all calls regarding violations.
Residents can be added to the Town's
No Knock list or can
register as a solicitor through the Town.
