Explorer Program
Overview
The Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Department has an exciting and intriguing program for teenagers between the ages of 14 and 19. The Fire Explorer Program provides participants with direction, encourages youth to go beyond high school education, teaches leadership skills and forms new friendships.
Members learn basic training in fire suppression and emergency medical services. A 12-week mock fire academy is held at some point throughout the year.
Many who join the program move on to college or pursue other careers, whereas other members feel like they have found their calling and become firefighters.
Requirements
Teenagers must have the following requirements to apply:
- Must be enrolled in high school
- Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
