Community growth, budget top agenda at next Town Council meeting

Castle Rock is a thriving community, and your Town government knows you have thoughts and concerns about how we are growing. Next Tuesday, we’re continuing our conversation.

Town Council meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. It’s a time for Council to take care of Town business and direct staff on various projects. It’s also a time to hear from the community during public comment. On April 5, we’re looking forward to hearing your perspective on growth.

Town Manager Dave Corliss will give an overview of how the Town has planned for the growth Castle Rock is experiencing, including ongoing traffic and water projects. Then, it will be your turn to weigh-in during public comment.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall, 100 N. Wilcox St. An agenda is online at

If you can’t make the meeting, visit our website,, after next Tuesday. There, you will get the same information presented, a link to the Council meeting video, and an opportunity to give us your thoughts through an online form.

Another resource to learn about the Town’s plan for growth is the latest issue of Outlook magazine, which was mailed to residents in December, and is still available online at

Also on the agenda for Tuesday’s Council meeting is an overview of the Town’s 2015 year-end budget report, and it is good news.

The Town ended 2015 in the positive. Revenues exceeded expenditures by about $4.9 million, including being able to fund portions of large capital projects budgeted in 2015.

The Town saved for large capital expenses, including water projects, the North Meadows Extension and even more fun at Philip S. Miller Park. The Town spent less than budgeted, and sales tax revenues were higher than projected. The Town continues its tradition of conservative budgeting and strong financial performance.
