Castle Rock Parks and Recreation recognized for commitment to the community

Castle Rock Parks and Recreation Reaccredited

Residents know Castle Rock has excellent parks and recreation and that makes it one of the top places to live in the country. The Town’s Parks and Recreation Department recently retained its ranking among the most elite parks and recreation agencies by earning reaccreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies and the National Recreation and Park Association.

This reaccreditation highlights Castle Rock’s commitment to community health and wellness opportunities. The Town’s department achieved 100% compliance among the 151 nationally recognized standards related to the management and administration of lands, facilities, resources, programs and safety. The department was also recognized for its strong volunteer management program, extensive recreation programming plan and its commitment to environmental sustainability.

“This is an honorable moment for our department,” said Castle Rock Parks and Recreation Director Jeff Brauer. “This reaccreditation highlights our commitment to the community. Now, more than ever, in this time of uncertainty and social distancing, people are turning to parks, open space and trails for respite and relaxation. Over the past few months, we’ve seen a 40% increase in visitation to our outdoor amenities, which reinforces the importance of providing a high level of service to Castle Rock residents.”

The Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies maintains quality assurance and quality improvement for accredited parks and recreation agencies throughout the country. This is the only national accreditation for parks and recreation agencies.

With this reaccreditation, the Castle Rock Parks and Recreation Department will maintain its ranking among the top 2% of accredited parks and recreation agencies in the United States, including only eight in Colorado. The department was first accredited in 2015.
