While we all want to stay in the holiday spirit for as long as possible, experts recommend recycling live Christmas trees right after the holiday. Don’t let your tree take up space in a landfill. Let your last gift for the season be to the environment, and participate in the Town’s Christmas tree-recycling program.
Live trees can be taken to one of four participating parks Wednesday, Dec. 26, through Thursday, Jan. 31.
The participating parks are: Douglas County Fairgrounds (500 Fairgrounds Road), Founders Park (4671 Enderud Blvd.), Metzler Ranch Community Park (4175 Trail Boss Drive), and Paintbrush Park (3492 Meadows Blvd.).
The trees will be turned into mulch that will be available to the public at the Fairgrounds and Metzler Ranch Park while supplies last.
Please keep in mind, only live Christmas trees will be accepted, and not wreaths or garland. Also, yard clippings are not allowed. All lights, ornaments and tree stands should be removed. Additionally, all plastic wrap, bags, nails, bolts and wire should be taken off the tree.
