Castle Rock Police update community on armed robbery, tactic used

News-Police2

Castle Rock Police want to update the public of an approach used in an armed robbery that occurred Saturday morning at a local grocery store.

At 7:12 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, Castle Rock Police were called to a local King Soopers, 5544 Promenade Parkway, where a woman, 63, reported a robbery. Police have been combing through surveillance video, and here’s what they want the public to know:

A man in a white SUV was parked next to the woman’s car on the driver’s side. He opened his car door hard enough to dent her car. They both got out to inspect the damage, which is when the man showed a gun and demanded the woman’s purse. He left with her purse, and she went back into the store to call police. The call came in at 7:12 a.m.

The woman was shaken but not injured.

Police were able to track a phone in the woman’s purse to outside of Castle Rock, near Arapahoe Road and Peoria Street, before the phone was turned off. The suspect is described as a short Hispanic male wearing a grey hoodie. Here is a photo of the car:CarPhoto1117
