Join Castle Rock Fire and Rescue to learn about wildland fire prevention April 22

It might be surprising to know that the Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Department has already responded to nine wildland fire incidents in 2017. In addition to responding to these emergencies, CRFD also places a high value on prevention.

Learn how you can protect your home from wildfires and even prevent them from starting during an open house with Castle Rock Fire and Rescue. Firefighters at Station 154 near The Meadows will host the open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 22. The station is located at 3801 Prairie Hawk Drive.

During the open house, you’ll:

  • Learn proper mitigation to reduce the risk around your home. Remember: you don’t have to live directly in a wildland area to be affected by a wild fire
  • Watch firefighters demonstrate how they fight wildfires
  • Learn about hazard fuels and how to identify them near your home
  • Become “Firewise,” and learn how you community can get involved with this program

“Safety is our top priority,” said Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Chief Art Morales. “In partnership with our community, we know we can help prevent some fires from ever starting. We hope residents from around Castle Rock will join us for this important open house.”

This open house is the first of four the department will host at various fire stations this year. Stay tuned to these and other events by signing up for the events email at
