Homes to be brushed up with Castle Rock Fire and Rescue’s annual Paint-A-Thon

A fresh coat of paint can transform an old house into a warm home. But painting a home can be a huge chore, especially for those in need. Join Castle Rock Fire and Rescue to chip in during the annual Paint-A-Thon.

Volunteers and fire personnel will team up to prepare and paint homes for Castle Rock residents who are physically or financially unable to do so themselves. Up to three homes will be given a face-lift Saturdays, Sept. 24 and Oct. 1. The effort will begin at 8 a.m. each day and continue until 5 p.m. or when finished.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old. Volunteers ages 10-13 may participate with an accompanying adult. Volunteers should sign up online,

“Working together to beautify our community while helping someone in need benefits everyone involved,” said Castle Rock Fire Chief Art Morales. “Our volunteers and firefighters alike leave these work days inspired.”

Volunteers will receive water, snacks and lunch. All materials needed for the project will be provided. Volunteers should wear sunscreen and old clothes on which they don’t mind getting paint. Time spent volunteering can be used to meet community service hours required by local schools.

Questions? Contact the Fire Department, or 303-660-1066.
Donations of paint, materials and supplies are also needed. Potential sponsors should call the above number.
