Protest withdrawn in recall for District 5 Councilwoman

News-Town1.jpg

A protest that had been filed in a recall effort in District 5 has been withdrawn.

The protest was filed by District 5 Councilwoman Renee Valentine during the protest window in May. Valentine withdrew that petition today for reasons described in a letter from her attorney, delivered to the Town today. The letter is attached to this news release.

The hearing that was scheduled for Friday morning has been cancelled.

Town Council is scheduled to consider a required resolution setting the recall election as part of the November general election during its regular meeting June 14.

It’s important to note Valentine will continue to serve in office while this recall process takes place. Valentine was first elected in 2011. Her current term expires in 2018.
